What should I sue for in an EEOC case after my employer aulted me and then fired me.?

From the start of employment I was subjected to a racially hostile work environment. I then was aulted by the owner. I am now suing them on discrimination charges. I'm not sure what I should ask for. I want them to know what they have done and what they have put me through. It hasn't stopped there though, she now is ruining my reputation in town. Telling people the only reason she hired me was because she felt bad for me because I am a single parent. Telling people she fired me because I was a drunk which is untrue. We are now going through mediation and I don't know what to ask for. $500,000 sounds good to me is that appropriate?
