Can I choose what county to register my car in Ireland or must it be the same as my residential address?

I've moved to County Mayo and must register my car from the UK to Ireland. I would like a dublin registration instead of Mayo to help with the resale value of my car, which I plan to sell in 1 year. Can I choose a plate or must I have a Dublin address to put on a "D" reg plate. Is there anyway around having to use the county letter of where you actually live. If you're wondering the roads in Mayo are so bad that nobody wants a second hand car from Mayo!!
