Girls? I need a bit of advice, would you mind if your husband wasn't a virgin?

Well, i'm 17 and my family encourage me to get married young and to find someone myself. there's this guy i really like..and things we're going perfectly fine (well i thought they were) until yesterday he said how i deserve much better than him and how he isn't good enough for me..(he's drunk alcohol before, had , and smokes) but when i speak to him mashallah he has islamic knowledge but just doesn't act upon it..i know he wants to change, he has a good heart but he just needs guidance!! He's 21, i've never been in a relationship before or anything i just want to do things the proper halal way, i know talking to him is bad but we haven't done anything and that's why i would really like to get married. He said how, guys like him deserve girls like that and how he wants a decent girl but its wouldn't be right. He also said, that he has met soo many decent muslim guys, they are the type of guys i want for you, and that i'm such an innocent girl..but i really like him? He seemed quite upset, but how do i convince him that i'm not judging him..i mean who am i to? I would love to be with him (marriage) and take care of him and help him, but should i give up? What should i do? And girls would you marry a non virgin? God is all merciful so who am i to judge? Should i try, or do you think i will meet someone? At the moment the only guy i want to marry is him :-(
