I need relationship help...is this abuse??

Hello everyone. I am a 18 year old woman..very young i know and i just partially ended a 10 month relationship. He is a very sweet man and does anythiong i ask of him..but recently things have been spirally downward. he's been cursing alot. He pushed me into a wall after i said something to him, he closed a laptop on my hands, and he has been pulling on me aggressively and snatching things out of my hand when he thinks im annoying him. I think that he has become possesive because we have been together for almost a year and he doesnt want anyone to have me. I broke up with him after these incidents and i want to know what to do. I love him alot but it also seems as if my love is fading. He calls 30 times in a row talking about get back with him and i dont know if thats a smart thing to do..I need advice..serious advice.
