Need a Mythological hero with a certain trait?

For a project i need 2 mythological heroes (Both have to be from a different culture than the other) But the catch is im looking for a hero with a specific archetype, my igned archetype is a Martyr. A Martyr is someone who sacrifices them self For the cause of the adventure or story, or so that another may redeem them self. So Far im using Jesus Christ, but im having difficulty finding a second hero. If anyone could give me a name or website of such a hero, i would be very thankful. :)
