Why wont my firebird start up right?

I have a 1984 firebird v8 5.0L. Now i just got a choke put on it and it worked good for a day, but now whenever i try to start it, it wont start up fully it seems. The engine seems to be alot more suttle than usual and if i dont consistantly rev it, it dies. Could it just need new spark plugs with wires? cause im aware it needs that. Thank you!
